Robdog, sorry I just have to ask - why is it necessary to be very tired when doing busines with Indonesians? Or is this the reason why expats get ripped off so easily - they have been too tired to notice what's really happening!

But your advice is good, it is easy to be taken for a ride if you are naive. The fool and his money, eh?

Although I do not live in Bali I am married to a Balinese girl and have a very large family in Kuta all of them have told me to be extremley weary when doing business with an Indonesian person. I haveheard of so many horror stories about people beinging ripped off. I personally know two Aust' blokes who have lost close to 1 million Aus in a hotel deal.Sorry to sound so pesimistic .

hi, i am a newbie to bali, a kiwi looking at establishing a wellbeing retreat this year. i have read many sites on establishing a business but would like an expat point of view on what the inherent pros/cons are for either pt company or a pma and tax rates. additionally would love any recommendations anyone has on lawyers that could help with this. finally, any good sites to look at renting long term accommodation for a base. am looking at spending approximately us$1,000 per month on a 2 bedroom house close to legian/seminyak - is that feasible. sorry for all the questions appreciate any help offered.
