HI everyone, I have been absent for a while (travelling) answered a post from our ripeha, and have noticed that the timing for posts is getting longer and longer. Am wondering why, there is nothing new to comment on? And yes moderator, I could put up a new post etc etc, did that awhile ago and no real responses. Even Hippie chick has been quiet. WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!!!!!!!!!! If you look at Bali Pod there is much activity daily.....

I don't bother even reading here very often as it has become quite boring, just happened to drop by.
I notice that the list of posts has dates that are totally incorrect.
Example, I commented on expat marriages more like 2 months ago than 2 weeks ago (it is showing as two weeks in the list)
Is this to make the forum look more active than it actually is?Can't say I find Balipod any more stimulating. For all that Roy was a right royal pain in the rear, it was a much more interesting place when he was a regular poster. Since it changed it's format and Bert left Bali, it also is dreary.

Totally agree, I am not bothering here again. Agree, some of them treat bali pod as a private club, and have noticed that "senior members" can be quite rude to new comers...

I actually find Balipod very negative. Once there was respect and wanting to learn more about Balinese culture, now it's all about what they don't like and where they can buy/do stuff to make Bali more like the places they came from. Poor Bali, so sad.

Hi Folks,
I am in a quandry as to why all of a sudden the forum has gone 'up-end', so to speak. Indeed, there are several Bali forums out there and most have been functioning a lot longer and thus more popular.
Like PeggySue, I also have put up new posts but alas, they too were not commented on. It appears to me that people much prefer to drag up old posts and comment on them.
Bele,
I understand what you are getting at re comments posted 2 months ago and then suddenly re-appearing on the newly posted list. Unfortunately I have no control over this.
Indeed it will be sad to see you good people move on as you all have contributed greatly to this forum and for that I thank you.
It seems that since nobody wants to put up new posts then I will start a few next week and see how it progresses.

hi folks
just back from 6 weeks in nirwana. nirwana = no bule/tourist/expat. bali = balinese.
i didn't read/log on while i was away, so got the perspective of distance......
bali blog is bloody boring, and somewhat irrelevant. posed questions raised by people who already know the answers.
check it out....how many newbies remain active? how many old hands keep exchanging opinions on flogged to death threads? how many contrived topics to keep the blog going?
maybe we old bastards should shut up until our opinion is sought. check it out, the balance is wrong. newbie questions/inquiries are far outweighed by old farts responses.
maybe we old farts inhibit the free flow of info.

Shorty has a point about the old farts, not to mention the setting of posting rules. Hard to strike the balance between free information flow and keeping the advertisers and ummmm extremists in line. I think more posts from people actually there would help, even if it's just a weather update. But these things go in cycles, I don't think BB is quite strangled yet.

Barry, what I'm referring to is my post was the last post and it was at least 2 months ago, but the post doesn't display date/time, it just says 'two weeks ago' which is rubbish

Bali Pod = douchebags = censorship! I asked for my account there to be deleted. You know who I am and why if Bali Pod admin is reading this!
Baliblog has nothing up-to-date or relevant in terms of posts and it's website design to attract new members. Pretty boring all right.
OK people, alternatives?
Posted 1 year ago # -
ok done my share, answered six blogs in the last two days!!!!!

PD i don't understand...it's a blog. you ask for alternatives, you have 2.
if you don't want to contribute/read/wotever, don't log on, or..............
back to reality.
most info sought is readily available elsewhere. the bulk of posts are repetitive rehashes.
stupid question? i think not. when was the last time BB gave you a thrill?
i'm a fan of indonesia matters and jakartass. have a look. sure, they ramble, stray from the plot, but for me it's engaging.
bali has a couple of english newspapers - bali discovery news and bali times. how about some links? pinch some of the headlines for threads.
throw in bali advertiser. between these you've opened up much more potential discussion, not to mention the revenue from 'clicking'

"Even Hippiechick has been quiet" well yes that is true, I am busy trying to earn enough money to get to Bali again. The Forum needs, IMO, a broader base and if I may suggest posting links to Twitter or Facebook would be helpful. The web designers could look at an iPhone App - in any case only positive input will help.
Bali pod is a most uninteresting sight with little relevant information but that has already been noted here. I have been reading BB but not contributing, frankly I have nothing to say at the moment.
In breaking news, the Operations Manager of Bali Resort and Spa in Nusa Dua has resigned amid a family dispute between the owners. Nyoman Ariadana is a very experienced Balinese hotel executive and it was very sad to hear he felt he had to resign. Nyoman previously managed Candi Beach Cottages and did a lopt to assist other east coast hotel managers improve their skills. I am sure he will move on to bigger and better things.Posted 1 year ago #
