I adore eating Babi Guling at anytime and my favourite place has to be Ibu Oka's in Ubud.

there's a world wide axiom - where do the truckies and cabbies eat?
forget anywhere populated by tourists, westerners or expats. a good example - harry's cafe de wheels in sydney. the pies are crap. no self respecting cabbie (i'm one) eats there.
take a drive on the western highway thru tabanan and between sembung and meliling there's 2 warungs. you can't miss them....trucks, coaches....the left hand side sells only babi, the other has ayam and sapi.
eat in? babi soto with some bones, babi (white meat, sate of liver, other innards, crackling) nasi, kangkung, sambal... rp4500! bungkus ex soto, sama.
or....drive into kerambitan from pangkung karung. just over the bridge at the start of the town are a few warungs. one sells only bg, its about 2 metres long with a steel cover nailed over a wooden table. last time i was there it was 10,000 for a bottomless plate. absolutely minimalist - no cutlery, a roll of paper towell, only 4 stools.
but the absolute best?
i buy a 40 - 50kg pig for around 700,000. i give it to the village to prepare and cook, invite everyone.....i have a balinese pig and party.
the locals provide the rice, fruit, cakes, vegetables....30+ satisfied people plus bungkus for later.
gamelan, dancers (preferably the kids), chess, dominoes, cards spontaneously included.
How much to eat babi guling in Ubud Ibu Oka ? Thanks
Ibu Oka is my favorite for convenience but do not know current cost per head, it was always very cheap.
