No doubt everybody has a funny yarn (and bad ones) about Customs iin the airport in Bali. Several years ago as I approached the Customs counter, a rather large and unhappy-looking customs officer snarled 'Go'.

I proceeded to keep walking and suddenly he said 'No'. So I returned to the counter and again he snarled 'Go'. I kept on walking!

What was you funniest or worst experience at Bali Customs?

No funny moments at all, just way too long spent waiting in line with little or no aircon. It's maddening to watch those immigration guys take their time stamping things again and again when they should be going as fast as possible so that the turistos can start spending money on island. But I have to admit, on my last visit in November 2010, things were a bit speedier than before, and there were more visa on arrival stations open. There must be tons of complaints out there and perhaps they are finally filtering through--a good thing, given the place depends on tourism.

My fun was on leaving with another family . We had just had a pretty stressful time in Lombok as the independance vote had been announced and as strees releiver
The ladies shopped to they dropped at the newly upgraded pottery factory that was an NZ gov stimulation program.
A day later we had to get over 100kg overweight luggage thru as cheap as possible . My wife used her charm looks and wits to get it on board for $20 US
(so she thought) when we got home we found half of everything was missing
half a dinner set ,a salt shaker but no pepper, etc but the two idols of one good spirit and on Bad were both there keeping us all in balance. Had to laugh as we couldn't do anything else , we'd played the game and learn't a lesson in Indonesian haggling , don't loose sight of the goods in the repacking/ wrapping process

    The nicest is during Ramadan...
them: Hello Pak where have you been? Me: Australia, I'm home for Ramadan. Them: Oh, please enjoy your fast, you can go.

The worst is not during Ramadan bringing many boxes of oleh oleh. They always want their share...
