It looks like TVs are expensive to buy in Bali. I`m assuming a electrical adapter will work for a TV and desk top computer.
Should I ship my flat screen TV from the U.S. to Bali?

bali is 220/240v. usa is 120v. if your things are using transformers you should have no problems, just use a plug/socket adapter. if they're direct plug into the socket they won't work unless they can be switched to 240, or have automatic dual voltage switching.
when you look at buy v bring you've the freight to consider.
have a look at these sites for prices. i can usually beat both shopping locally.

Sell your T.V. in the states. Buy a new one in Indo. Save yourself the hassle. Customs,etc.etc.

Thanks Shorty and Jungleulua,
Best Buy in the USA has great prices. I guess I just need to learn more about customs before I send electronics in my 20ft container.

A better resource for this question is http://www.livinginindonesiaforum.org/index.php. Plenty of expats working in Indonesia who can give you some tips on the painful experience that shipping goods into Indonesia entails.
You might find you spend less time in front of the TV when you live in Bali, and therefore may be happy with something less than you have. Also, if your TV is a plasma, be mindful that electricity is expensive and somewhat unreliable depending on where you live.
