Hi guys, just booked a ticket the other day without looking at the visa requirements. Whoops! We are arriving at midnight on 27th July and leaving on 29th August so by my calculations 32/3 days. Will they let us pay the fine of $20 a day when we fly in? It seems we don't have the time to do a proper visa at the embassy now, so wanted to double check they won't kick us out when we get there!
Cheers!

Most times they don't ask you for evidence of date of departure. I would write 30 days in the "duration of stay" part in your entry card. On leaving you may just have to pay an extra US$20 each per day but you can bargain. If, in the highly unlikely circumstances you you got caught out on arrival, you can get an emergency visa. You get taken to a small office, wait for an official and after off loading some cash your passport gets stamped. Just take your chances. In any case you would start out around 45 quid up.

jnote,
It's only the 9th Juli now and so you should have plenty of time to apply for a 60 day visa. Normally it takes only 5 days to process the visa.

Barrie is right. Get a visa and go legal, save yourself the stress--or just cut 3 days off your trip.

I'm with eagle. I overstayed and it was more expensive to change my ticket so I just paid the $20 per day. If I had applied would probably have cost more plus registered post plus you can't travel while they have your passport. There can be plenty of stress chasing up a visa if you are in a hurry. Just pay on the way out if they ask.

And dont worry They will ask they calculate every single day and if youre 1 day over its $20 USD per day fine but easier that dtuffing around for a visa for only 2 days extra. And ther eis deffiantely NO BARGAINING youre not in a position to is their theory never know anyone to bargain and get away with it on exit

Hello everyone,
It is illeagal accourding the law to stay longer. Be aware that you can be locked up. So dont try it because all the security is also on high alert after bombing in Yakarta.

Hi,
One bonus of the 60 day visa is that you go right through immigration on arrival, no VOA line.
And the day you leave, you won't spend time in a small office with an official who wants to milk it. On top of that as willem said with the recent events they might not be too accommodating even on arrival.
Plan B would be an AirAsia or Jetstar flight to KUL or SIN a few days early and visit those cities.

I accidentally over stayed my visa on my last trip to Bali. I didn't realize this as there was 31 days in the month I was there versus 30, so I was one day over. When I went through customs, the official noticed and walked me over to an office where I dealt with another (friendly) agent who pointed out the mistake to me. Then he took me to another agent who does the fee processing and my credit card was charged US $20 for the extra day. Over all it wasn't a big deal, just time consuming. So if you plan on going this route at the airport when you depart, just give yourself plenty of time to allow for this.
