    Hi

Just trying to get info on working in Bali, Both my partner and I are looking to moving to Bali. So far we have been to Bali several times and we absolutely love the place. However this time we would like to try something more permanent rather that just another holiday.

Both of us are in our mid 20's, with good work history and university degrees, has anyone been in a similar position and if so what sort of work did you do? From reading other blogs it seems like it is reasonably hard for people in a similar position to get work visa's.

    Any feedback would be appreciated

    HI Jay

Getting the work Visa is sooooooo easy if you get a business agent to do it for you i just gave them all the information they needed and they processed the application 30 days later they told me to go to Singapore to get my Visa and now i just renew it each year after 5 years i can apply to be a permanent resident.

Whats prob more harder is finding the job or thinking of a busines idea to strat up yourself if you have the finances.

    Cheers

wanting to live in bali and being able to find a job here are to different stories. its not easy to find work here, but if you hang in there you will do it.

took me 25 years, but i guess i have incredible patience.

... yes to get a working visa is kind of easy, its just more expensive, you need a legal company and the permits what you are actually going to work over here..

To the after 5 year you can apply Indonesian citizen ship term... i recon everybody to check that out personally, because its quite expensive!

If you are not in the land or property dealing business, i found it not really necessary.... hmmm

To have a work Visa here is very necessary and dont believe otherwise and its no more expensive that any other country - I get very annoyed when i hear of Bules (which i am) who come here and expect that they can just work and not pay their share of the taxes to help the country hopefully get better. If you go to Australia or any other 1st world country its virtually impossible to work illegally as most employers wont touch you without a tax file number or work visa so why expect different in 3rd world countries Just because the System here is not exactly what i would say perfect its the people who work illegally here that make it less perfect - I like many Legal working foreigners here get targeted by immigration police and they hassle you to pay their so called fines - what for i fight them and win every time as i am legal i would happily show them in the direction of someone who is not working here legally. Then tell me its to expensive to get a visa 6 million a year for your business agent to process it and then $1200 usd for Manpower levy cheap i say when usually the immigration fine starts at around Rp20,000,000 each time they catch you......Karma do bad things and get bad back

Hi Andrew.. u r right, if you are working in Indonesia, you should have without any doubt a working visa ( Kitas ).

My sentence "its more expensive" was compared to other visas if you are NOT working here.

This including, the legal company you have to setup ( if you are not employed from one ), Notary cost etc etc...

The other things you said were about right.

And don't forget your company ( even though it is on a Indonesian name ) has to pay taxes to, depend on your business and turn over... ( at least i do ;) )

Oh and i have to disagree ( as Bule lol ), to setup a company and get a permit in Europe would cost much much less.... but of course the taxes are very different ;)

    HI SJBALI

There are 2 things in life no matter how much we try to avoid them it will always get you and that is Death and Taxes. So I believe just work with it and make both as easy as possible :)

    Hi andrewbali

I guess there are a hundred different reasons why people want to live and work in Bali - for me its just feeling more comfortable in my own skin, even more so than in my own home country!

Bali holds such a special place in my heart that I'm looking into heading over, without knowing anyone, it's just that kind of place as I'm sure you're well aware. I'd be very grateful for more information regarding the business agent you used to secure a work visa...

If you'd prefer to reply to tyga_lilli@hotmail.com that's also cool :)

    Thanks for the input,

    tygalilli

have any of you ever thought of doing 6months-1year holiday, seeing how you go long term living in bali? after talking to lots of expats living and working in bali is very different to a 1wk/1month holiday. its probably a better idea to do an extended 6months/1year holiday, get your feel for being there long term and consider employment/business opportunities. getting a kitas is really expensive and starting up a business/earning money can be quite difficult to start doing. theres so many expats in bali and the competition seems pretty high when it comes to business.

ummm after reading about Kantor Kita hope you didn't go that way! There has been problems! I agree about the people working here illegally... I also am very sick of hearing about people that come here to work for the "season". I do weddings here...extremely legally, as opposed to most!
